Newsletter: February 1999
- Last Updated: 2006-06-15
We are sending this mailing first class because of the limited time to notify you of upcoming events.
First of all, please take a look at the enclosed information on the Arc-California convention. It will be held very locally, at the Sheraton at LAX on March 12-13. We encourage you to attend some or all of the conference. Being such a short commute, it is a terrific opportunity to save money on accommodations and travel.
Secondly, in regards to the convention, we are seeking volunteers to “man” (person?) the registration table. At the last minute, The Arc South Bay was called upon to assist with some of the convention details. Shifts of approximately three hours are available between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 a.m. -5 p.m. on Saturday. There is also a short shift Thursday evening. Please call Judy at 532-6333, ext. 226 if you are willing to work the registration table. (You will not be alone – there will be two-four people per shift.) If Judy does not get enough calls, she will be calling YOU.
We are proud to present your new Officers of the Board for the year 1999. They are Lyn O’Neill-Burton (President), Paul Flahive (First Vice President), Jack Chu (second Vice President), Tom Wong (Treasurer), and Florence Bagsby (Secretary). Congratulations to each of the officers – we wish you a very productive year. Congratulations are also in order for re-elected Board members Lyn O-Neill-Burton and Jack Chu, and newly elected member Rod Davis.
AND, speaking of Board members, we are in search of a few interested people to serve on the Board. There is one monthly board meeting held in the evening of the 4th Thursday of the month at Gardena City Hall. There are currently two unfilled terms ending December 2000, and one term ending December 2001. The Board President may also appoint three individuals to serve one-year appointments. If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, or would like more information, call either Judy Senter or Richard Pierce at the Administration Office or speak with one of the Board members.
Congratulations to Patricia Saterfield of Los Angeles for winning the 1999 Pledge Campaign contest. Ms. Saterfield turned in her monthly pledge before the deadline and her envelope was the lucky one drawn out of the “hat.” She wins dinner for two at Tony Roma’s. Yum, yum.
