Newsletter: April 2005

  • Last Updated: 2006-06-15

We are very fortunate to have recently become the beneficiary of a rather sizable contribution from PTS Group of Redondo Beach (a marketing/design agency). They approached us several months ago with the idea of developing a new brochure, complete with professional photos and design. The PTS Group donated the design and layout outright, and the photography, printing and copyrighting were vastly reduced in price. We wish to thank them profusely and acknowledge the following individuals who worked on the project: Phil and Judy Sato, Aileen Antonier (copywriter), and Martin Cohen (photographer). We are so excited to be able to share the outcome of their talents with you (the brochure is enclosed).

Well, now that the April 15 th tax deadline is history, you can count the big bucks you saved by donating to The Arc-South Bay last year…remember, your donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law, as we are a 501©3 charity.

Congratulations to Floyd “Pete” Hathaway for being the winner of our Pledge Campaign drawing! It seems especially fitting that he won, as he was the originator of our pledge campaign. (NO! it was NOT fixed.) He won a gift certificate for lunch for two at Paradise Café in Torrance.

Your Board officers for the fiscal year 2004-2005 are:

  • President: Sylvia Cameron
  • 1st Vice-President: Jimmy Coleman
  • 2nd Vice-President: Bobbie Hedges
  • Treasurer: Tom Wong
  • Secretary: Florence Bagsby

Other Board members are Dolores Alexander, James Donatelli, Ed Feuer, Paul Flahive and Warren Kelly. We would like to thank each Board member for their dedication to The Arc.

In Memoriam

Mr. and Mrs. Sydenstricker (Ray and Rosemary) both passed away in recent months, due to illness. They were very active in supporting the Hermosa Beach Adult Development Center, especially at Christmas time. We offer our sincere condolences to their family, and especially their daughter Joy, who has been employed at The Arc-South Bay for many years.

Coming Up:

  • April 28, Thursday, Board of Directors Meeting, Gardena City Hall, Management Information Seminar Room, 6 p.m. Members are welcome.
  • May 30, Monday, Memorial Day Holiday. All Arc facilities are closed.
