The next time you visit an Arc facility, you will see something new – picture ID badges on all staff. This move was made to help eliminate confusion on-site and also to identify staff while they are out in the community with our consumers.
The staff at our Adult Development Center-Gardena would like to thank the Gardena Public Library for their assistance with a special program for our consumers. Every Wednesday the Library has reserved a private room for our consumers to read and use the computers. This program is a cooperative effort with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
We are looking for a big bang in July again this year…our fireworks stand application was just submitted to the City of Gardena and we are awaiting word on its disposition. If all goes as anticipated, we will again share a booth with the Gardena Valley Kiwanis Club at the same location (by Krispy Kreme donuts on Artesia Boulevard in Gardena).
Giving doesn’t get any easier than this: just click http://www.iGive.com/TheArc when you are online on your computer and you will be automatically transported to a virtual shopping mall where you can purchase items at your favorite retailers such as CD Now, Barnes and Noble. Amazon.com, JC Penney’s to name a few…and a portion of your purchase goes to the Arc-South Bay. It really is that simple. (You do not pay any extra.) And now they have made it easier than before, by not requiring you to send back a confirmation notice to them. So, here are the simple steps:
Click here, register, then start shopping!
Every time you shop, start at iGive.com, and Arc will automatically receive a specified dividend on each purchase.
Oh, by the way, The Arc-South Bay has raised about $120 so far through this vehicle. We could raise a lot more if YOU would shop at iGive.com (there is no extra charge to you!)
In Memoriam: Mr. Davis, long-time member, passed away in February. He is survived by wife Helga, a son in Finland, and son John, who is in our bowling program.
Our condolences go to the family of Board Member Laura Johnson on the recent loss of her mother.
Also in February, Southwest Industries consumer/warehouse helper David Chavez lost his battle with cancer. He was a hard worker who enjoyed being at Southwest Industries.
