Here’s a hot offer! We are anticipating a fireworks booth this summer and need volunteers to help staff the booth during the daytime hours. Our partner for this event is Gardena Valley Kiwanis, and they will be covering the evening hours. Again this year, our booth will be in the parking lot of Food-4-Less on Artesia/Vermont Blvd., Gardena. Working in the booth is bound to be even more fun this year, as Krispy Kreme should be open by then, just next door to our booth! Skills required are: reliability, friendliness and helpfulness…that’s just about all of you readers out there, wouldn’t you say? (The booth is enclosed, so you can work in the shade.)

For now, just keep this in the back of your mind until we get our shifts organized and send out more details – the booth will be open from June 27th through July 4th.

We also will participate in American Promotional’s pre-sale program. Under this program, we are able to pre-sell coupons for $5 off at the booth. Please be ready to answer the call (to sell coupons or volunteer at the booth) when YOU are asked!

The Arc has been keeping some South Bay Eagle Scout candidates busy the last few months with fulfillment of their Eagle Scout projects…One Scout coordinated the painting of the classrooms and offices at our Adult Development Center in Hermosa Beach. Another executed the first stage of painting at our Marine Avenue building. Yet another Scout will soon be coordinating the second half of that project. We are very grateful for these fine young people and their contributions of labor and planning for our needs.

Some of you may be saying, “What building on Marine Avenue??” Last year we were fortunate to receive the donation of an office building near the corner of Marine and Crenshaw in Gardena! This two-story building has some occupied and some vacant office space. Since the building is not suited to our occupancy needs at this time, we are renting out the vacant space. If you or someone you know is looking for office space in Gardena, please call Richard Pierce at 310-532-6333, ext. 225 for more details.

Although the Scouts provide all the manpower, we have been supplying the paint and equipment. If you have a source of donated paint and supplies for upcoming projects, please let us know (call either Richard Pierce, x. 225, or Judy Senter, x 226).
